Established in 1948, Smith Electrochemical Company was founded by Harold F. Smith in Cincinnati. The company started in a 900 sq. ft. plating facility and its main source of business came from the military during the Korean War.

Currently a third-generation business, Smith Electrochemical Company expanded into an 8,000 sq. ft. facility in 1959. The main source of business continued to be from the military, but expanded to silver plating jet engine parts for General Electric's jet engine plant.
